the star was single in his sphere
phenomenon unrivalled
no ex, no why, no zet to fear
before its bulk collided
with other matter in his realm
concerned and deeply troubled
he felt, no longer at the helm
bewitched and being doubled
but certain matter must decline
and end up as debris
since gravity will not entwine
for all eternity
the star is back to where he was
each day a great adventure
no act, no word, no other cause
and certainly no censure

what magic
oh if i was a jinn
of if i could have jinxed
bedeviled them or put a spell
on those
on those
on all of those
my roses miss that water
all my salt has kept
and shed
and shed
oh if i was a jinn
i'd drown them in my tears
i'd burn them in my anger
choke them in my smoke
but if i did
i'd be no longer jinn but ghoul
i'd be a hag, a demon
evil
ill
like those
like those

enchantment, charm
oh what a magic
is the truth
they'll never have
