People seem to think that family love is clearly defined by cognation. Parents, children, brothers, sisters, something like that. Most people do not even realize how lucky they are if that is actually the case. For example, we assume that parents love their children and children love their parents, even though we know that this is not necessarily true. Of course, we know also what a devastating effect love that is missing can have, especially on children. And if a family, if parents cannot provide this desperately wanted love, those longing kids, or grown-ups will try to find a substitute. They just cannot help it. It is human nature. Then they might try to give their love to someone they have chosen as a family, and if this love is returned, it will not matter anymore that there is no relation. Because there will be one, call it elective affinity or else. There will be a relation, if it is true and honest, and it will be a very special one. At any time.
